Green Ecological World Park is the name of a large park suitable for a day trip that hides a wealth of animals. The car parkings are quite a distance from the main entrance, but a free shuttle bus will transport you to the entrance. More experienced families take picnic equipment and spend part of the day in the meadow by the alpaca enclosure. There are several restaurants on site. The entrance fee is relatively high (380,- TWD adult, 320,- TWD children over three years old), but considering the amount of time you can enjoy with your family here, it's understandable. Parking is free.
You can plan a several-kilometre walking tour suitable for children from Dashanbei Humanities Ecological Museum in this area. The big advantage is that there are not too many tourists here. If you're here, be sure to seek out the coffee and sweet dessert stand with a fantastic view a few hundred meters from the museum (312新竹縣橫山鄉120號).
The oldest Taiwanese zoo, which has undergone reconstruction in recent years, offers visitors 300 species of animals and is rather small in size. This is reflected in the low entrance fee. You can easily see the whole zoo in a few hours. Don't hesitate to visit the nearby Taiwan Insect Museum or the adjacent Confucius Temple. All in all, it makes for a nice day trip.
